When it comes to unexpected or unplanned life changing events we have no choice but to accept it, make the most of it and move on. Why is it so hard for us to accept, embrace and move on with our planned life changes. Our attitude toward life is affected by our ability to embrace change, therefore it’s being treated purely as an implementation of a new process.
To embrace something is to welcome it with open arms, hold, ‘hug’, accept completely. You might embrace your sweetheart, or even changes in technology. Embrace derives from the French verb embrasser, which means “to clasp in the arms” (but now includes kissing).
So often we fall behind, become despondent or fail at success out of fear for change. A change that might have been our “friend”, change that might have been our “savior”, change that might have been our “comforter”, facing our fears, I always say. We should be reminded that change happens every day without a thought or action from our side – it is almost involuntary, which brings me back to my question.
Why is it so hard for us to accept, embrace and move on with planned life changes?
I welcomed the change of a new life style; the joy and pleasure of road running and embrace the discovery it allows in my life each and every day.
